Jonathon Lane BBA (Hons)
Director
Jonathon, joined the business in 2012 and has 19 years consulting experience in the General Insurance, and Commercial reinsurance markets. He has worked in London, the US and Bermuda. Jonathon began his career at XL Re (a part of the XL Capital Group now AXAXL). He then went onto work for Accenture Consulting, Ernst & Young Advisory and KPMG Advisory, where he worked for a number of major insurance companies as a sector and transactional specialist. Jonathon has held a number of senior and high-profile transformational roles in his career. His recent engagements have included:
- Structuring the potential £1.5m buy-out of a Lloyd’s Insurance Broker backed by PE capital.
- Sourcing in conjunction with GC Advisory, $110m of third-party capital support for a new Lloyd’s Syndicate from a mix of trade capital and traditional private capital.
- The formation of a brand-new Cyber MGA, securing Lloyd’s capacity from one of the largest insurance organisations in the world, and completing a PE backed acquisition of 51% of the business.
- Completion of a global strategic review for a large Lloyd’s broker covering £50m of business spread over 12 international offices and 3 MGAs with the aim of driving EBITDA growth ahead of a sale.
- The management of a brand-new broking division in key growth areas such as Cyber Insurance, with a focus on ultimately spinning of own Lloyd’s brokerage.
- Supporting the build-out of an international brokerage, including new overseas offices set-up, structuring VCT/PE funding round.
Charlene Mak CA (SA)
Director
Charlene, has 8 years consulting experience in the General Insurance and Commercial reinsurance markets. She has worked in London, Bermuda and South Africa and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Charlene began her career as an auditor at Beyers Muller Chartered Accountants and then worked for the Retail & Consumer Products Assurance team at Ernst & Young in Johannesburg. She then went on to work for Marsh Captive Solutions in Bermuda, where she assisted a number of major international companies on the structuring and management of their Insurance Captives.
Charlene has held a number of senior roles within major Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies. Her previous roles have included assisting with the post-merger financial integration of the Health Lambert business into Authur J Gallagher and working as part of the special financial projects team at AIG. Charlene’s recent engagements have included working for a large broker as a Financial Process Change Implementation Manager. Charlene has just completed an extended engagement leading the FP&A division of a large mutual manager.
